Welcome to Animenutz
Welcome to your new Gr00pz website!
Now you have your new website setup, the first thing your going to need to do is get yourself logged in, and familiar with the layout and how things work! To login, simply click the 'login' link at the top right of the page. Once logged in you will be redirected to the homepage. You should notice that the top bar of links has now changed. Up there you should now see an 'Admin Site' link. This is where you need to be to get yourself started! Inside the admin section you will find a submenu to change all aspects of your website. To get started lets try something relatively simple....
Changing how your site looks
Most users want to quickly change how their website looks. This is easy with Gr00pz. Click the 'Admin Site' link at the top, and then find the submenu item 'Premade Skin Selections'. In here you will be presented with dozens of varying skin styles that you can switch to and try. Try changing your skin now! (You may need to refresh your browsers window to see the complete changes). Once your happy with a skin, lets try setting your websites name on the banner... Click the 'Header Image Controls' link in the admin menu. You will be presented with a screen that offers you 2 sections. The 1st allows you to upload and replace the current banner image (the one that shows at the top of your page), the 2nd allows you to place text (or Overlay a Text Title) into your header image. For the purpose of this quick demonstration, were just going to do the latter. Scroll the page down and enter your websites name in the text box. Select a font, and choose a colour that suits your skin style (remember it needs to be readable, so preferably a dark colour on a light background or vice versa!). Depending on the amount of text you entered select a decent font size....Say around 60px for 6-8Characters, a lesser size for more characters. Leave the offset numbers for now....they simply shuffle your texts position slightly. Click apply! You should now see your websites title on the banner image (If you dont you may need to refresh the browser window to see the changes).Simple! Next...lets try add some content...
Adding forum boards
A fundamental part of any Gr00pz website is the forum board system. With Gr00pz you are able to make an unlimited number of forum topics for users to post into and read.Lets add a new forum topic. Head to the admin section and find the submenu item 'Forum Settings'. From here you are able to add new topics or edit existing ones. Enter a topic title relevant to your website. This should be fairly short and to the point, for example 'My Blue Widgets Forum'. Once done, give the board a brief description; this will show in the forum listings and give your users a better understanding of what to post in the boards! You can ignore the other form parts for now. Click submit, and you will see that your new forum shows in the admin list, and should also show on your main forums page! Repeat this step with a different title and description, and click submit. This topic will now also list. Now, enter a title and description once more, but this time tick the 'make as subtopic' box, and select one of your pre-existing topics from the drop down. Click submit. If you now look on your main forum listings page, you will see that the last topic you entered doesnt list on its own, but instead is embedded as a sub-topic of the forum board you selected in the drop down box. Sub topics are a great way of keeping content grouped together! You may wish to finish setting up your forum boards before moving on. Finally, if your running your own domain website you may wish to turn the Gr00pz global forum topics Off. To do this head to the 'General Settings & Contact' submenu, and deselect the 'Show global topics' tickbox!
Contact and menu items
Whilst your in the 'General Settings and Contact' submenu you can get your contact form online. This will enable any user to get in touch with you should they wish, but will also keep your email address hidden. To activate the email form on your website, all you need to do is simply enter the target email address into the box provided, and click update. Now, when you click the 'Contact Us' link on your sites main menu you will be presented with the Contact form! For those of you that dont wish to show the contact form on your website at all, click the 'Menu Items' submenu link. From here you are able to amend the text that is displayed on your websites main menu bar, and also de-activate some elements should you not need them. Try hiding a few of the menu items, by deselecting the checkboxes, and clicking the update button.
Ready your website for Google searches
By now you should have your website skinned and coloured to your liking, with the menu set to your requirements, and the forums laid out ready for use. You should now take a look at the 'Page Titles & META' link in the submmenu. From here you can configure what keywords/titles your website shows to Google, and this will dramatically increase your chances of ranking high and gaining more new visitors! Once in the section, you will see the form is already pre-filled with standard Gr00pz data. This needs amending to suit your websites topic and theme. Follow a similair kind of pattern to whats there by default, and ensure that you stuff your main keywords in where possible (dont over cook it though or you wont rank in Google either!). The page titles are especially important and you should spend some time ensuring these read well and contain your websites theme keywords (they dont show on your page, but show as text next to the icon in the browser window). We cannot stress the importance of changing the 'Homepage Title' field,'Site Meta Description' field and the 'Keywords' field. Without updating these, your chances of listing in Google are slim. Gr00pz is designed to rank aswell as it can, but you need to put the effort in too! You may wish to enable the footer bar links whilst your adjusting keywords. In the submenu select 'Footer Links'. You can add upto 4 links that display in the footer, and should be used as either quick links to important pages on your website, OR (more preferably) link to similair themed external websites. We recommend ALL users exchange links with other similair websites, as this will increase your Google Ranking massively! To add a single link, click the first form box next to 'Link 1'. enter the URL 'http://www.google.com'. In the 'Link Text; box enter the text 'Google'. In the 'Hover Text' box enter the text 'Click here to visit Google'. Click 'Update', and you should find that you now have a link to Google on your footerbar!(We dont recomend you keep this link)
Replace this homepage!
The homepage that you are currently reading was developed from within Gr00pz, and like most other things, Gr00pz allows you to change it. Lets get started, click the 'Homepage Setup' link from the submenu. Firstly, enter your websites name into the relevant box. Ignore the HTML boxes for now, and take a look at the 'Widget Slot' feature. This enables you to adjust the type of content on your homepage, inbetween your static text content (The 3 boxes shown beneath this content). Because you currently dont have any news articles added to the system the current selection is a little pointless. Try changing the drop down to the Flash/Youtube widget - a new box will appear. Grab yourself a video on www.youtube.com and copy the EMBED code that is shown next to it, and paste it back into the 'Flash URL' box. Click update. If you now refresh your homepage, you should see you have a fully working youtube video embeded into your page! You should also be able to see the current homepage content that your are currently reading in the 'Top HTML Content' field. Feel free to erase this out now, and try writing your own content that is relevant to your website. We really do recommend that users also check out the www.Gr00pz.com forums for HTML coding help, as this can help dramatically with the quality of your homepage. Thats about it for the quick guide. We recommend you explore your settings, click everything, and see what happens! Theres alot more to Gr00pz than you first realise...we've not even touched upon the edit profile section, emoticon designer, chat room editor, and staff members... Thanks for choosing Gr00pz.
